GAME SHELF / CHOOSE BEFORE YOU CREATE

What do you want the world to be?

Luanti supplies a platform; individual games supply their own blocks, rules and progression. Choose by the experience you want rather than by a screenshot alone. A save created for one game should not be treated as interchangeable with another.

Minetest Game running in Luanti

For a quiet building base: Minetest Game

Minetest Game is a simple sandbox without built-in enemy mobs or a prescribed goal. Its restrained starting point makes it useful for construction and for trying compatible mods. The project is maintained, but is not adding new gameplay features. That is a different proposition from choosing a feature-heavy survival game.

For a more defined adventure: VoxeLibre

VoxeLibre is a separate game for Luanti with survival and creative play, its own tools, structures and crafting systems. Follow its own documentation when learning a mechanic. A recipe, creature or feature from it may not exist in Minetest Game or on an unrelated server.

A practical first session

In Luanti, open Content → Browse online content and filter for games. Read the description and compatibility information, install one, then create a world with it. Give the world a recognisable name that includes the game. Spend your first few minutes learning movement, the inventory and the game’s own help before installing extras.

No choice here is a permanent commitment. Keep separate worlds for different games and compare them on your own terms; do not convert the only copy of a save simply to try something new.
